I am a student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Currently, I'm studying Engineering while also on a Pre-Med track. I graduated from Millard North Highschool. My favorite subject is math. I enjoy teaching all sorts of math, but I am most passionate about algebra. I do test prep and GED help as well. I firmly believe getting a good education is very important. Sometimes you need some extra help to excel and I'm happy to provide that, as I definitely needed it when I was learning these subjects. In my spare time, you will find me reading, lifting weights, or looking up new recipes to try.

I am a graduate of Wayne State College where I received a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in English Education. While earning my master's I worked as a graduate assistant by teaching composition courses.I had the opportunity to create and deliver my own curriculum. That experience further encouraged my passion for teaching English. I enjoyed helping the students learn how to write papers and develop skills that they would use for the rest of their college careers.I also have experience tutoring elementary students. I often created games and contests to help them complete homework. These activities allowed for a lot of interaction and was fun for both parties.I believe in student centered education and putting the needs of my students first. This means I am willing to try different teaching methods when it benefits the student. The English world is so exciting and I have a passion for helping students find their place in it because with the right guidance, anyone can be a good writer.

I believe knowledge is the best and most applicable skill you can have, that's why I love tutoring. Everyone has those subjects they need a little more understanding in, and I love helping people answer their own questions. Getting the right answer is always important, but I think understanding how you got there is the most integral part. I love working with people to find out how they approach a problem and seeing how they think gives me a better understanding on how to help them. After working with countless high school student, during high school, I know there is no single, definitive way to solve a problem. I encourage kids to come up with there own path towards solving a problem while I guide them along the way. This is my first professional tutoring job and I look forward to finding more ways to help students learn in a manner that they like. Probably my favorite subjects to teach are science and math course, i.e. algebra, chemistry, physics, etc. I love these subjects because they are the fundamentals of the entire universe. Right now, I'm working towards a degree in computer science, but I've thought about switching that over to mathematics-well because I love math. Outside of school subjects; I play video games, do cross country, and like watching documentaries and superhero films.

I have been tutoring all levels of Spanish for over 10 years. I love working with students on an individual basis to help them succeed in their class. I understand that foreign languages don't come easy for everyone. I actually almost failed my first year of Spanish in high school. However, with hard work and persistence, I ended up excelling in my classes and now, more than 15 years later, I am a Spanish translator and interpreter. I know what worked for me when I was struggling, so I like to incorporate those same strategies with other students. I like to use humor and word associations to help students remember things. I get along with any type of personality and have a passion for working with special needs students as well. I have worked with students from age 8 to 68! It is never too early or too late to start learning Spanish. I hope that my passion for the Spanish language will spill over into the lives of my students.

I am a professional educator and have been teaching Spanish for the past 3 years. I learned Spanish in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a translator in the intensive post-9/11 military environment. After an 8-year career as an accountant and tax auditor, I decided to return to the classroom and pursue my true passion of teaching. My end-goal is to create a more caring and accepting world through education.
