I have a B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Biology from UCLA. My focus is in ecology, evolution, genetics, and marine biology, with additional expertise in cellular and organismal biology, conservation, and environmental science.

I am a graduate of Coker College in Hartsville, SC where I received a B.A. in Chemistry and minor in Biology with a focus in both Ecology and Theater. Since graduating, I have been an Ecology instructor and Public Speaking instructor for the Boy Scouts as well as a sales trainer for a major bookstore chain. I have also spent two years teaching science and engineering at the high school level. While I feel that I am well versed in a variety of subjects, my specialties would be math and composition. I work well with all age groups, and I feel that with patience and a knack for being able to explain a concept in a dozen different ways, anyone can learn anything. Education is the key that opens the door to critical thinking, which is the key to everything else. I really enjoy extraordinarily long and complicated board games with friends as well as listening to podcasts that expand my knowledge, both trivial and otherwise.

As a young adult, my mom recognized the gift I have in relating to children. As a teacher, I have always enjoyed my time with my whole class and the one on one times with individuals. I like to use my sense of humor when teaching along with my creativity and problem solving abilities.Outside of tutoring I enjoy arts and crafts, flower gardening, traveling, watching movies that make me laugh out loud and spending time at the beach or in nature somewhere.

I am an experienced and well-qualified essay coach, and a tutor in language arts and German. I also tutor students who are preparing for the SAT. I earned my B.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University and an M.A. in German from UC Berkeley, where I taught college German and received training in foreign language pedagogy. I love to learn, I am drawn to travel, and the experiences I have had enrich my work as a tutor. For me, tutoring is about more than making the grade or getting the right score; I always strive to foster insights and new skills that will help my students take charge of their own education.

Hi! I am Srujana Gattupalli. I am currently an Applied Scientist at Amazon. I work in the field of computer science and machine learning. As a graduate student during my PhD, I have had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for introductory computer science courses, and I have also tutored students taking classes in various areas, including programming, algorithms, and research topics. Both as a teaching assistant and as a tutor, I naturally worked mainly with students who had difficulties following the course.I have been a tutor in the past and I would love to tutor for any computer skills, programming language or tutor math/ statistics.

I am a naturopathic medical student at National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. I have my Bachelor of Science in biology from The Ohio State University. I have gained tremendous confidence in my capabilities through educational commitment and believe personal growth comes with true dedication. I focus on time-efficiency, utilizing my resources, and organization for academic success. Medical school allowed me the opportunity to dissect cadavers for one year, which greatly benefited my knowledge of human anatomy. My other areas of expertise include physiology, microbiology, and immunology. As a tutor, I want to encourage enthusiasm and share the reward of academic accomplishment. My ultimate goal is to become a board certified naturopathic oncologist. Aside from studying I enjoying hiking, skiing, painting, reading, and cooking. The title “teacher” is special to me, because great teaching inspires the imagination and frees kids to think with an open mind. This freedom of imagination let’s kids comprehend more completely who they are and who they aspire to be. It’s all about possibilities! My personal teaching style is filled with this positive urgency, humor and energy—“Let’s do it and do it now!” Be it a special education class, a remedial class or a college course, kids apply their knowledge and insights in projects. Ideas are applied to writing, mastery of mathematical processes or performance techniques.Feelings of confidence motivate kids and stretch into other parts of life—problems become challenges to tackle, rather than disappointments to avoid. Gaining mastery is supported by trust. Setting achievement goals is risky. Students need to trust their teacher and themselves. Building trust and relationships is another one of my chief strengths. I believe kids learn in a system of relationships and in a culture of learning. Building trust requires follow through—being present, prepared and in command, otherwise kids don’t take the risks. It also means adapting to individual learner’s needs. A great lesson or an appropriate challenge builds trust through understanding. I use an eclectic array of resources from graphic organizers, to drilling, to practiced editing, to sentence starters, to Cornell Notes.. All are a proven way to help structure learning tasks. Without judgment and a positive can-do frame of mind, we tackle what seems impossible!
