How can Latin tutoring help you succeed?

There's no denying the allure of Latin. For more than 500 years, it was the language of civilization and, by some counts, it still underpins nearly 23 Romance languages. Master it, and you'll have the keys to French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and even Romanian. The language of Julius Caesar and Marc Antony won't give itself up easily, however. You'll have to navigate your way through a highly inflected case system, rules regarding gender, and an intricate system of verb conjugation.

Getting a handle on these complexities means staying on top of your studies. Fall behind in class, and you'll soon be struggling to keep up. Fortunately, Varsity Tutors may find you a professional Latin tutor in Miami who may try to help you meet your goals for the course. The right instructor may work with you to separate the formal from the informal and decode the various affixes. Most importantly, you'll be able to do all of this on your own schedule. You may meet your tutor anywhere that's convenient for you, and at anytime that works best with your existing schedule. There is even an online face-to-face learning platform that may let you work with your tutor anywhere you have an Internet connection.

Session Summaries by Latin Tutors

Miami, FL Latin tutoring
Today, we worked on Latin and Geography. It was a bit of a low-key day, but we spent the first half of the session working through the student's new vocabulary sheet, reviewing all the vocabulary they should know by now. In the noun section, there were only a couple of words he didn't remember, as he has a very good memory for vocabulary. When we were done working on that, we returned to studying Geography. His teacher said the test would mostly be on vocabulary, so we continued working through some of the packets of chapters with key terms throughout, with the student describing each term for me as he came to it, or reading up on it in the chapter and then summarizing it, if it wasn't something he was familiar enough with.

The student's class is now learning verbs beyond the 1st conjugation. In view of this, the bulk of our time was devoted to recognizing verb conjugations (2nd, 3rd, 3rd -io, and 4th) and how their thematic vowels affect their formation. He seemed to absorb all the information without difficulty. The remainder of the session was spent in reading and reviewing his class notes for the classics component.

The student worked really hard today and showed a good deal of understanding - he's come a long way with the adjective/noun relationship. He also was doing pretty well with the speed translation in Space Race for the irregular verbs, so he should keep trying to up his high score in that and continually improve. He did a very good job today.
