This year-long intermediate-level class promotes the enjoyment and appreciation of art as students strengthen their use of media and techniques to create both teacher-assigned and self-directed two-dimensional (2D) artworks, which may include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and more. This course incorporates hands-on activities and consumption of art materials.

This yearlong honor class promotes the enjoyment and appreciation of art as students refine their use of media and techniques to create primarily self-directed, two-dimensional (2D) artworks at high levels of proficiency and independence. This course incorporates hands-on activities and consumption of art materials.

Students explore how space, mass, balance, and form combine to create aesthetic forms or utilitarian products and structures. Media may include clay, wood, plaster, and paper mache. Students focus on use of safety procedures for process, media, and techniques.

The purpose of this course is to give advanced students the opportunity to develop quality, concentration, discipline, and breadth in drawing. Includes development of skills in perpetual and conceptual aspects of drawing, techniques of preparation, and presentation.

This course addresses a very broad interpretation of two-dimensional (2-D) design issues. Involves purposeful decision making about how to use the elements and principles of art in an integrative way. Covers graphic design, typography, digital imaging, photography, and more.

Encourages learners to engage with a variety of topics, including knowledge and understanding gained from study of other subjects. Learners become confident in analyzing knowledge and opinion from a variety of sources to build arguments.

Provides learners with the opportunity to study English language and its use in communication. Learners respond critically to a wide variety of texts and develop skills in writing clearly, accurately, and effectively.

Learners study a range of texts in three main forms: prose, poetry and drama from different periods and cultures. Develops skills of reading and analysis.

Develops transferable skills including working with mathematical information, thinking logically, modeling situations mathematically, and analyzing results.
