Students learn how to select, organize, andmount formal and informal staged productionsby means of exploring the leadership roles ofdirector and stage manager. Students focus onthe nature and responsibilities of the directorand stage manager in relation to the entireproduction team; the effect of the director'sconcept on the overall production; vocabularyand principles of the various elements of playproduction; techniques used to create aneffective theatre work; and basic knowledgeand application of staging. Public performancesmay serve as a culmination of specificinstructional goals. Students may be required toattend and/or participate in rehearsals andperformances outside the school day tosupport, extend, and assess learning in theclassroom.
