This year-long, advanced course, designed forwind and percussion students with extensiveexperience in solo performance and largerperforming ensembles, promotes significantdepth of engagement and lifelong appreciationof music through performance and otherexperiences with sophisticated instrumentalmusic, as well as creativity through compositionand/or arranging. The course includes thedevelopmentof advanced instrumentalensemble techniques and skills, eextendedmusic literacy and theory, and deep aestheticengagement with a broad spectrum of high-quality repertoire, ranging from early music tothe contemporary. Musical independence andleadership are particularly encouraged in thissetting.Admission is by teacher approval.
