The health-education component of this course provides students with information and skills that will enable them to employ a variety of structured thinking processes to solve problems and make decisions. Students will be taught the Heimlich maneuver and pass the skills test of CPR (a high school graduation requirement). Students will be made aware of important health risks for their age group. They will be able to appraise their own health statuses, health behaviors, and potential for health risks. The physical-education component provides a continued program that stresses a variety of body-management skills necessary for participation in numerous team, dual, and individual lifetime activities. The course emphasizes activity and fitness for lifelong wellness.
