Grade Level: 7 Instruction begins with understanding the five categories of ASL: handshape, orientation, location, movement and non-manual expression (facial expression). Students will learn to sign the alphabet and will be able to practice basic conversation. They will begin to engage in interpersonal, presentational and interpretive communication by learning to sign and understand simple signed sentences, fingerspelling and grammar structure in ASL (depending on school site availability).
