Additional Fees associated with these courses This course will introduce students to the highway transportation system and to driving strategies which will help develop their knowledge and skills needed to become safe drivers. Specific content includes: (1) instruction within a classroom using textbooks and the State of Florida’s Driving Handbook, (2) instruction within a laboratory environment (use of a driving simulator), and (3) instruction in vehicle control and traffic procedures using an automobile on the driving range and in real life traffic situations. Areas to be covered include defensive driving strategies, natural laws and their application to driving, energy efficient and safe, enjoyable vehicle ownership, physical and menta factors, legal and moral obligations, knowledge of motorcycle operations and interactions in the highway transportation system, planning for safe travel, and a comprehensive study of the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving performance.
