Choral Music I-IV (full year)The choral music course is designed to develop and refine music reading skillsand to encourage artistic expression through choral singing. Rehearsals focus onchoral techniques through proper vocal production. Theory and sight-readingtechniques are also emphasized with continued development of the knowledgeand skills in musicianship and performance. In order for students to gain anappreciation for different vocal styles, composers, forms, periods and cultures,students will sing literature that ranges from the Renaissance to popular.Placement into the choirs is based on ability and is determined by variousperformance criteria that is developed by the choral staff. This may include anaudition. A student with no prior choir experience may enroll in the program andwill be placed in the appropriate group by the director.
