Southridge High School – Jazz Band (Placed by band director)

Jazz Band consists of two ability-based ensembles: Jazz I and Jazz II. Jazz I is audition-only and plays in the standard big-band instrumentation of 2 Alto Saxophones, 2 Tenor Saxophones, 1 Baritone Saxophone, 4-5 Trumpets, 4-5 Trombones, Guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums. Jazz II is non-auditioned and is open to any and all instruments. Students in both Jazz I and Jazz II will learn to improve their individual and ensemble playing skills through the medium of jazz band literature. These musicians meet during zero period.
Prerequisites: Student audition (for Jazz 1 only)
