This course is one of the options for the 11th grade required SS course sequence. Have you ever wondered what people all over the world have in common, or how different societies can see the world in very different ways? If so, anthropology may be the class for you! Social and Cultural Anthropology is the comparative study of culture and human societies. Part philosophy, part interpretation, part science, anthropology seeks an understanding of humankind in all its diversity by understanding their perspectives and experiences. It is a dynamic, exciting, and highly relevant subject. In studying other cultures, we also examine our own. The course is reading, writing, and discussion-based. The course prepares students to be successful in the IB standard level exam at the end of this one-year course.
