Southridge High School – Gender and Social Equity Studies

This course will allow students to explore and analyze issues related to gender, identity, and the power of different social groups in society. Students will examine the role of gender in the institutions of government, society, and the media. We will look at how popular culture and society represent and define masculinity, femininity, and sexuality. This course is meant to be an honest and challenging look at our society and will look at controversial topics. *This course is not part of the required SS course sequence in grades 9-11 towards graduation, but may be taken for Social Studies credit recovery or as an elective (may not replace Civics credit).
