Note: Course enrollment is determined by a district-wide lottery. Students must place this course as a primary elective option to be included in the lottery. Do not place this course in the alternates section of your Course Selection form. Automotive Technology is designed for students who intend to pursue training after high school in Automotive Technology or related fields. The program is based on National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) industry standards. The curriculum is the maintenance and light repair in brakes, electrical, steering and suspension, engine performance, engines, heating a/c, and powertrains. Students are invited to participate in SkillsUSA contest in hands-on leadership areas. Contests give students the opportunity to win scholarships and tools. The auto tech program models the demands of the industry with 50% hands-on experience and 50% academic content. Students can participate in site visits and industry activities including job shadows and summer internships. Classes will be held at the Aloha High School Automotive Shop. District transportation is provided from a student’s home high school to the Automotive Shop. Return transportation is either provided by the District or Tri-Met is provided at no cost to the student.
