1 credit This course provides a foundational understanding of the hospitality and tourism industry. Students will learn the tasks, knowledge, and skills required by anyone wishing to build a career within the hospitality and tourism industry. Areas of focus include quality customer service; communication skills; housekeeping, maintenance and safety; financial controls in a food and beverage operation; marketing, advertising and sales; and hotel management. Students will take the Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional (CHTMP) Level 1 exam.

Prerequisites: This course is the first course in the Hospitality and Tourism Management completer program.
