South Carroll High – Hospitality and Tourism Management

1 credit This course focuses on the leadership and managerial knowledge, skills, and abilities required for advancement in a management track in the hospitality and tourism industry. Students will identify the traits of effective leaders and define traditional management styles and apply those to the various businesses within the hospitality and tourism industry. Areas of focus include goal setting and performance evaluation for employees; management of revenue and cost centers; budgeting and reporting of operations and capital funds; and maximizing customer safety, customer satisfaction and repeat guest business. Students will take the Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional (CHTMP) Level 2 exam.
Prerequisites: Principles of Hospitality and Tourism. This course is the second course in the Hospitality and Tourism Management completer program.
