South Carroll High – Career Research and Development

1 credit Students in this course use the Maryland career development framework to explore potential career areas through the process of selfawareness, career awareness, career exploration, and setting academic and career-related goals. Course content will integrate the development of competency in business writing, as well as the Skills for Success (communication, learning, interpersonal, technology, and critical thinking). Students will also be required to prepare for and participate in a mock job interview process and maintain a career portfolio.
Prerequisites: Recommended for grades 11 and 12. This course is available only to students attending Gateway Schoo or Flexible Student Support. This course is part of the Career Research and Development completer program.
