First semester students will study early astronomy, discuss the history of space travel and modern space probes. Students will investigate the history of rockets, launch vehicles, and the coordinated systems required for a successful launch into space. It is a study on manned space programs from Mercury program to Mars exploration and commercial uses of space. Second semester ASIII introduces students to various regions of the world from a geographic, historical and cultural perspective. The course provides increased international awareness and insight into foreign affairs that permits a more educated understanding of other cultures and enhanced knowledge of America’s interests and role in the world.
