Shepton High School – Academic Literacy I

This first year course is designed for students who need additional literacy strategies and skills in order to ensure success in high school and beyond. Academic Literacy I involves practice for students in literacy strategies in the areas of word analysis, vocabulary, reading fluency, written response, and critical thinking, to build success and become proficient readers. Students who fail to meet satisfactory on 8th Grade STAAR Reading or fall below district criteria are required to take this course.
