All World Language courses emphasize listening, speaking, reading, and writing in an integrated way. Conversational dialogue and an understanding of these cultures are emphasized.

Latin I: Students will pronounce and comprehend Latin texts. Students will learn Latin and English grammar and the influence Rome's culture and history have had on the world. The emphasis is on reading Latin aloud and comprehending what one has read—not speaking it.

American Sign Language (ASL) 1: History and culture of the Deaf community will be examined along with the history of American Sign Language. The structure of the hearing mechanism and the types and causes of hearing loss will be discussed. Students will learn the manual alphabet, manual counting to 100, and the first 100 signs.

Journalism 1 prepares students to become staff members of The Arrow (newspaper), The Paragon (yearbook), or The Phoenix (literary magazine). The course includes an overview of journalism as well as assignments directly related to producing a newspaper, yearbook, or literary magazine.

Focuses on the basics of communication and public speaking and then leads into an in-depth study of forensics, the art of study of argumentation and formal debate.

This course is an investigation & employment of film formalism & visual storytelling, primarily. The class operates like an old Hollywood studio in which students work with other students in film divisions to shoot & edit short films.

US History in Film is a one-semester elective course that invites students to use film to study selected topics in US history. Students will investigate history versus fiction through film.

This course will combine the historic, economic, social, technological, scientific, and political issues in the different regions of the world as they relate to the US and its foreign policy.

This course serves as the introduction to the AP Social Studies curriculum at SHS & introduces the systematic study of patterns & processes that have shaped human understanding, use, & alteration of Earth's surface.

Emphasizes strength development training and proper lifting techniques.

Topics include weight training, conditioning exercises and proper nutrition to improve muscle tone, muscle definition, posture, bodily proportions and the overall condition of the body.
