Roosevelt High School – Orchestra: String

In this year-long course designed for experienced string instrumentalists (violin, viola, cello, string bass), students who are passionate about music challenge themselves in a dynamic and collaborative musical setting. They improve their individual and ensemble performance skills including blend, balance, intonation, rhythmic accuracy, melodic facility, stylistic interpretation, and tone production. Students perform at concerts, contests, festivals, and community events. Opportunities for differentiation and extension include performance as a soloist and/or in small ensembles. This ensemble may participate in state-qualifying festivals and students must meet eligibility requirements in accordance with OSAA policy. Students develop the skills needed to prepare for auditions into college-level and honor ensembles.
