This year-long course is intended for audio engineering students who would like to continue to pursue the art of audio. The course will provide an atmosphere for the dedicated student to hone their craft by developing independent projects, leading audio support for Roosevelt, and working with community organizations. Students will continue to develop skills in live sound, recording, editing, mixing, mastering and sound design. Students will continue learning elecotronic music production in Ableton and Logic Pro. Intermediate/Advanced students will be expected to create an online portfolio of work during the year. Since recording and audio composition projects are often time consuming, students should be prepared to take on extracurricular work. Career-building opportunities may be possible through potential partnerships with local studios and professional sound engineers in the Portland Metro Area.

Students learn about modeling data and problem situations with functions, specifically linear quadratic, polynomial, exponential, rational, radical, and logarithmic functions. They are also introduced to complex numbers and problems in trigonometry and statistics. Students work both individually and in groups to solve problems, apply mathematics, and communicate their reasoning.

This year-long course focuses on empowering students who are passionate about taking action to make real change happen in their community while serving in a leadership capacity in the school. Students are accepted into this class by passing and excelling in a full year of Intro to Leadership. Students taking this course must display R.I.D.E.R values at all times and dedicate themselves to building an equitable and inclusive Roosevelt community through school-wide activities, workshops, forums, and events. Areas that will be of focus in the class and within committees include: planning and organizing community events, announcements and recognition, as well as budgeting and fundraising. This course does require hours outside of the classroom to complete committee tasks and responsibilities.

AP Biology studies the core scientific principles, theories, and processes that govern living organisms and biological systems. Students will engage in hands-on laboratory work to investigate natural phenomena. This course prepares students for the AP exam. Those who attain successful scores on the exam may receive college credit.

In this introductory college-level calculus course, students cultivate their understanding of differential and integral calculus by engaging with real-world problems represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally. Students use definitions and theorems to build arguments and justify conclusions as they explore concepts such as change, limits, and the analysis of functions.

In this course, which emphasizes experimentation and the use of advanced scientific apparatus and scientific instrumentation, students pursue advanced topics in chemistry and deepen their understanding of chemical principles. This course prepares students for the AP exam. Those who attain successful scores on the exam may receive college credit.

In this introductory college-level composition course, students cultivate their understanding of writing and rhetorical arguments through reading, analyzing, and writing texts. They explore topics such as rhetorical situation, claims and evidence, reasoning and organization, and style.

In this introductory college-level literary analysis course, students cultivate their understanding of literature through reading and analyzing texts. They explore concepts such as character, setting, structure, perspective, figurative language, and literary analysis in the context of literary works.

In this interdisciplinary course, students learn how human society and nature overlap and interact. They better understand the natural world, identify human-made problems, evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them in the modern era. Economics, politics, sociology, health, and history—among other topics—are discussed frequently.

Students study the informal and formal structures of government and the processes of the American political system. They also study the role of government in economics. They study micro and macroeconomics, comparative economic systems, economic theory and practices, taxes, and personal finance. This course provides one semester of AP Government and another semester of AP Economics.
