Dive into the dynamic world of communications in this hands-on, project-based introductory course. This class explores the fundamentals of five creative disciplines: photography, graphic design, journalism, podcasting, and video production. Using industry-standard tools like Canon M50 cameras and the Adobe Creative Suite—including Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro—students will develop technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities. Each unit focuses on a core discipline, offering a mix of foundational instruction, collaborative projects, and real-world applications. Key learning objectives include: Photography: Master the basics of composition, lighting, and camera settings to capture compelling images. Graphic Design: Explore design principles to create eye-catching layouts and visuals using Photoshop and InDesign. Journalism: Learn the essentials of storytelling, interviewing, and reporting to craft impactful written and multimedia content. Podcasting: Develop skills in audio storytelling, scriptwriting, and editing to produce engaging podcasts. Video Production: Gain experience in pre-production, shooting, and editing to create professional-grade videos. By the end of the course, students will have a diverse portfolio showcasing their creative work across multiple mediums, equipping them with foundational skills for further studies in our intermediate and advanced level courses or careers in communications.
