Publications 3-4 is designed for students who have completed Publications 1-2 and who are ready to take their skills to the next level. This course focuses on advanced reporting, writing, and editing techniques while emphasizing leadership, collaboration, and innovation in producing the school’s online and printed newspaper, Voices of Roosevelt. Students will take on key roles on the newspaper, such as section editors, senior writers, and layout designers, as they: Write in-depth features, investigative reports, and opinion pieces Master advanced interviewing and research techniques Explore multimedia storytelling, including photography and digital content creation Refine layout and design skills for print and online platforms Uphold journalistic ethics and navigate complex editorial decisions In addition to contributing high-quality content, students will help manage production schedules, mentor beginning staff members, and ensure the publication maintains its voice and vision. This class offers a deeper understanding of the impact of journalism while fostering leadership, creativity, and professionalism. Prerequisite: Publications 1-2
