Roosevelt High School – Health 1-2

Students acquire functional health knowledge, strengthen their attitudes and beliefs, and practice the skills needed to adopt and maintain healthy behaviors throughout their lives. The course may address topics such as: personal health, physical activity, and disease prevention; mental health, stress management, and social and emotional learning; healthy relationships with self and others; communication skills; substance abuse prevention; healthy eating/nutrition; goal setting, decision making, and refusal skills; accessing valid information, products, and services to enhance health; analyzing the influences of family, peers, media, and technology on health behaviors; safety and injury prevention including bullying/cyberbullying and violence prevention; and comprehensive sexuality education. This course may be taken as a year-long course or in two separate semesters during different years, depending on the campus.
