Roosevelt High School – Avid 11

Prerequisite 2.5+ GPA, interest in post secondary education AVID 11, in combination with AVID 11 HECS, supports students learning more about how to better prepare for education after high school. Students will continue to engage with what is important to them, and what they want to contribute to the world, and how to set themselves up to do this. In addition to this information, students will actively engage in transferable skills such as organization, collaboration, and goal setting. Each week, students will participate in academic study groups, and each day, students will be asked to talk with and work with their peers. As budgeting allows, students will go on field trips to college campuses and other organizations to help them learn more about their future. This class also partners with the Oregon Zoo to learn more about how to prepare for employment in different fields. Passing both AVID 11 and AVID 11 HECS will allow students to meet the 0.5 higher Education and Career Skills (HECS) credit needed for graduation.
