1 credits / Full year course / AP Latin IV offers students an indepth study of classical Latin literature, focusing on selected passages from Vergil’s Aeneid and Caesar’s Commentarii de Bello Gallico. Students develop advanced translation skills, literary analysis, and historical context understanding while preparing for the AP Latin exam. This collegelevel course emphasizes critical thinking, linguistic precision, and appreciation of Roman culture and rhetoric. Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 Students in ASL I will gain awareness of cultural behaviors of the deaf signing community and participate in group discussions and role-play practices as they work toward achieving a novicemid to novice-high proficiency level. This course will also include a brief history of ASL, discuss some of the causes of hearing loss, and provide an introduction to American deaf culture and the deaf community. Classes are conducted in the target language for 90 percent of the time (no voice), with frequent opportunities for students to practice and checks for understanding. English will be used only when necessary. NOTE: Not all colleges and universities accept ASL as fulfillment of foreign language credit. Please check with the individual college.
