Ponderosa High School – CTE Intro to Tech Drawing/Design (Spring)

This course offers students the opportunity to practice engineering concepts in amodular lab design. Students will complete short introductory rotations on modulesdesigned to provide hands-on experience with engineering applications. The focus ison developing skills that the students can apply to their projects. Further motivatingstudents to continue their learning in math and science. Solidworks introduces basicnon-parametric 3D concepts to build confidence in 3D thinking and progresses tothree-dimensional parameters. The student learns to construct, modify, and managecomplex parts in 3D space as well as to produce 2D drawings from the 3D models.This year-long course develops skills in drafting and design of structures andproducts. This is accomplished by introducing a design process of refining sketchesthrough technical hand and computer-aided drafting. The use of a CAD-CAM programwill allow students to visually apply creative design elements to specific projects.
Prerequisites: CTE Principles of EngineeringTechnology, Intro to Drafting andDesign or teacher approvalStudents must plan on takingDrafting & Design when signedup for Intro to Drawing/Design.
