Phoenix Military Academy High School – Dance I

This course is an introduction to dance technique in the following styles: latin, ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, improvisation, and composition. Students will learn technique in these styles as well as dance history, and critique. This technical work culminates in a mandatory dance concert where we present student choreographed works at the end of the school year. We also have guest artists who have taught guest classes in styles such as African, Korean cultural dance, and bharatanatyam. This class serves as a prerequisite for Dance 2.
