IB SL Biology is a laboratory-intensive course which stresses data analysis and experimental design techniques. Students will experience an overview of the primary topics in Biology within the context of two major trends: one toward change (evolution) and one toward maintenance (homeostasis). Laboratory investigations and scientific problem-solving will be emphasized. Students are responsible for maintaining a portfolio of investigations as required by the IB Program. In addition, students must participate in and complete the required IB Group IV project as well as an internal assessment (student-designed scientific investigation).Students are expected to take the IB SL Biology exam in May.
