This course is designed to prepare students for the AP/IB program and may require extra hours of study per week.

Students will develop an understanding of how language, culture, and context determine meaning. The study of translated works from other cultures is important for the IB student in developing a global perspective. Students will develop critical reading and writing skills to prepare them for college and to be an active member of the global community. The students will learn to articulate their acquired knowledge in both written and oral formats. This is the first year of a two-year course.Students are expected to take the IB English Language and Literature exam in Year 2. This is the first year of a two year course.
