Sports Medicine I is an introductory survey course designed to explore the field of Sports Medicine and the Allied Healthcare Profession of Athletic Training. Course objectives will cover: Organization/Administration of Athletic Training, Minor Injury Prevention and Treatment, Emergency Management, Sports Nutrition, Sports Psychology, and Environmental Emergencies.
Prerequisites: 10th Graders: completion of Honors Biology with a grade of B or better; 11th/12th Graders: completion of Health Education with a grade of B or better. For Honors Credit: Students must also complete 5 observation hours after normal school hours.
