Mayde Creek High School – Fall Health (Virtual)

The goal of health education is to provide instruction that allows youth to develop and sustain healthpromoting behaviors throughout their lives. The understanding and application of these standards will allow students the ability to gather, interpret, and understand health information; achieve health literacy; and adapt to the ever-evolving science of health. This course explores a variety of health topics including human anatomy and physiology, mental/emotional health, use and abuse of drugs, tobacco, alcohol, human sexuality, communicable diseases, environmental and consumer health. Students develop a personal philosophy of wellness and selfresponsibility. Practical instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR/AED is provided. This course must be completed during the Fall and/or Spring semesters. Students are scheduled in after-school periods to complete the asynchronous course. There is a fee assigned to this course. Fees for tuition based virtual courses will be attached to the course, and fees will be paid through Pay N’ Go.
