This course provides an introduction to the dental field within the health science industry. Through lectures and hands- on skills practice, students learn how to sterilize instruments, operate suction devices, obtain and process $\\mathsf X$ -rays, and take impressions for dental appliances. Administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, patient records, and ordering supplies are also incorporated. This course is offered at Miller Career and Technology Center. Note: Teachers collect fee for BLS card $$ 800$ . Prerequisites: Principles of Health Science+, Medical Terminology $^ \\star +$ , & Health Science Theory+ \*Students in the Class of 2026 are waived from the Medical Terminology prerequisite requirement. +Students in the Class of 2027 and beyond who have only taken two of the three prerequisites may be considered on a deferred basis. Students who have all prerequisites will be considered first. REQUIRED: MCTC Course Request Application - Selecting this course for planning purposes does not guarantee enrollment in the course. Successful completion of Dental Assisting I is required to progress to Dental Assisting II.
