Mayde Creek High School – Entrepreneurship I

Students learn principles necessary to begin and operate a business. The course’s primary focus is to help students understand the process of analyzing a business opportunity, preparing a business plan, determining feasibility of an idea using research, and developing a plan to organize and promote the business and its products and services. In addition, students understand capital required, return on investment desired, and potential for profit. Pre-requisites: Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance AND Business Information Management I 8633 - Sports and Entertainment Marketing I 0.5 credits / 1 Semester / Grades: 10, 11, 12 Students learn basic marketing, target marketing and segmentation, sponsorship, event marketing, promotions, sponsorship proposals, and implementation of sports and entertainment marketing plans. This course provides opportunities to develop promotional plans, sponsorship proposals, endorsement contracts, sports and entertainment marketing plans, and evaluation and management techniques. Pre-requisite: Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance Co-requisite: Sports and Entertainment Marketing II 8654 - Engineering Design and Problem Solving 1.0 credits / Full year course / Grades: 11, 12 This research based course is for students to use the creative process of problem solving by identifying real world needs and then devise solutions. The solution may be a product, technique, structure, or process depending on the problem. The engineering design process would be used in the solution process with an awareness on social and ethical implications. Note: This course satisfies a high school science graduation requirement. Pre-requisites: Algebra I and Geometry, Engineering Science, Engineering Design and Presentation I, Principles of Applied Engineering
