This course provides an introduction to basic computer hardware and software. Through hands-on labs, students learn how to build computer systems, troubleshoot and repair computers, printers and mobile devices, install and configure operating systems, and learn networking and security concepts. This course is offered at Miller Career and Technology Center. This course focuses on the principles of management and planning supported by research, financial, economic, ethical, and legal concepts. Students plan and execute an event, establish a sports, entertainment or recreation marketing product/ business, and develop a career plan. Pre-requisite: Principles of Business, Marketing and Finance Co-requisite: Sports and Entertainment Marketing I 8668 - Social Media Marketing 0.5 credits / 1 Semester / Grades: 11, 12 This course extends the marketing and sales program of study by having students investigate how the marketing community measures success in the ever-changing world of social media. This course is designed to look at the rise of social media and how marketers are integrating social media tools in their overall marketing strategies for today's business needs. Pre-requisites: Principles of Business, Marketing and Finance and Sports and Entertainment Marketing I, and Sports and Entertainment Marketing II Co-requisite: Fashion Marketing 8678V - Cybersecurity I 1 credits / 1 Semester / Grades: 12, 11 This course provides an understanding of cybersecurity concepts, system vulnerabilities, common cyber-attack mechanisms and tools, intrusion detection systems, and methods to mitigate cybersecurity risks. Simulated and hands-on labs provide experience in various areas including firewall, router, and switch security, cryptography, encryption, VPNs, virtualization, steganography, hashing, security design principles, and social engineering. This course is offered at Miller Career and Technology Center. REQUIRED: MCTC Course Request Application - Selecting this course for planning purposes does not guarantee enrollment into the course. Successful completion of Cybersecurity I is required to progress to Cybersecurity II.
