This interdisciplinary course examines the diversity of African American experiences through direct encounters with varied sources. Students explore key topics that extend from early African kingdoms to the ongoing challenges and achievements of the contemporary moment. Students will develop skills across multiple fields with an emphasis on developing historical, literary, visual, and data analysis skills. Students may not duplicate credit by taking African American Studies and AP African American Studies. . 0329 - Texas Government (Dual Credit GOVT 2306) 0.5 credits / 1 Semester / Grades: 11, 12 This one-semester course covers the origin and development of the Texas Constitution, the structure and powers of local and state government, and federalism and intergovernmental relations. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to explain the origin and development of the Texas Constitution and describe state and local political systems. Students earn three college credit hours upon successful completion. College Credit is provided by Houston Community College (HCC). HCC admissions requirements; TSI requirement. \*\*This course does not satisfy the Government high school graduation requirement.\*\*
