Long Beach Unified School District ROP – Band, Marching

Marching Band is a course for students who have had some previous experience in playing a wind or percussion instrument. The emphasis in this course is on the development of individual technique, musicianship, and physical activity. Standard band compositions are studied for performance at special school events such as assemblies, athletic contests, parades, concerts, and festivals. Instrumental performance, field shows, choreography, physical movement, and marching technique are required activities. The California Visual and Performing Arts Education content standards are imbedded in this course. Admission to this course is by instructor’s approval. Students borrowing school instruments are expected to insure them. Rehearsals and performances outside of class time are required.
