Studio Arts Technician is a letter grade credit support position to assist the teacher with daily operations and management of the studio classroom and labs, storeroom, office and exhibition spaces. Students will learn skills applicable and transferable to jobs outside of school (i.e., frame shop, tile factory, photography studio, artist’s assistant, etc.). Specific tasks will vary according to the studio assignment in ceramics, photography, painting or graphics classroom studios and labs. Students will learn to be self-managers in daily operation of the studio classroom; will experience problem-solving as critical thinking process; will acquire studio management skills; learn varied technical skills; prepare student work for exhibition; will peer tutor as able by sharing skills with other students in the studio; will assist in records keeping; will become aware of professional opportunities in the arts.

Prerequisites: Permission of the teacher is essential. Prior studio classroom experience with tools and materials is desirable.
