Lincoln High School – IB Visual Arts Higher Level 1-2
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
This is the first year of a 2-year IB HL sequence. Students do critical research and analysis into the history and appreciation of art and design. The focus is on delving deep into the cultural and historical genesis of art throughout the world and creating a visual and verbal record of this research in the form of a body of work that is an extension of well-documented research in a visual arts journal. Studio work inspired by the research is also an integral part of this class. Students choose what art topic to study and research. Museum and gallery visits are required twice per semester. Students interested in this class must possess a willingness to engage in academic reading and writing. The focus of this course is academic in nature rather than focused on studio art. IB Assessments: Students are eligible for IB Assessment Registration in this course. Prerequisite: IB Visual Arts SL.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: At least one High School course in Visual Art.
