Lawton Chiles High School – Art Portfolio Honors - 2D

Students work in a self-directed environment to develop a portfolio of their own work that visually explores a particular artistic concern. Students integrate sketchbook in creative processes and reflect on aesthetics and art issues. Students create content that shows artistic and cognitive growth. In keeping with the rigor expected in an accelerated setting, students' portfolios show originality and artistic growth over time, mastery of visual art skills and techniques, and evidence of sophisticated analytical and problem-solving skills based on their artistic, art historical, and cultural knowledge. Students work out of class using critical thinking, research, conceptual thinking, and utilize creative risk-taking.
Prerequisites: Two prior yearlong art courses, teacher approval
