Drawing & Painting I will instruct students in fundamentaldrawing skills and prepare them to make the transition topainting. Course work builds on drawing skills introduced inIntroduction to Art. Drawing approaches include contour, valueto model form, gesture, perspective and color. Students workwith drawing media such as pencil, charcoal, conte and oilpastels. Art history, criticism and aesthetics are incorporatedwith studio production of drawings and paintings. In additionto learning a life- long skill, drawing courses help increaseobservation skills, self-discipline, ability to evaluate one's ownperformance, problem-solving abilities, and ability to completelong-term projects.
