This course is an introduction to pharmacytechnology professions, and basic preemploymentopportunities, pharmacy technician skills which maybe utilized in either clinical or community settingssuch as retail, home health care, and ambulatorycare pharmacies. Intensive pharmacy specific safetyand security training is provided including potentialdrug addiction and abuse issues relative topharmaceutical care such as robberies andidentification of forgeries. Students are required toadhere to Federal Regulatory Agencies and Actsguidelines including Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act,Controlled Substances Act (CSA), Joint Commissionon Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations(JCAHO), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) inaddition to the pharmacy regulatory agencies withinthe state of Georgia.
