This course is specifically designed for students tounderstand the importance of the financial world,including planning, and managing money wisely.Areas of study taught through application inpersonal finance include sources of income,budgeting, banking, consumer credit, credit lawsand rights, personal bankruptcy, insurance,spending, taxes, investment strategies, savingsaccounts, mutual funds, and the stock market,buying a vehicle, and living independently. Based onthe hands-on skills and knowledge applied in this course, students will develop financial goals andcreate realistic and measurable objectives to beMONEY SMART! Through project-based learningactivities and tasks, students will applymathematical concepts in realistic scenarios and willactively engage in applying the mathematicsnecessary to make informed decisions related topersonal finance. Financial Literacy places greatemphasis on problem solving, reasoning,representing, connecting and communicatingfinancial data. Various forms of technologies andinternet research will be highlighted to exposestudents to the resources available when managingpersonal financial goals. Employability skills areintegrated into activities, tasks, and projectsthroughout the course standards to demonstrate theskills required by business and industry.
