Ceramics I introduces the characteristics of clay and design in clayusing various techniques of construction and decoration.Emphasizes hand building and introduces other formingtechniques, surface decoration, and glaze applications. Coversstyles of ceramic works from Western and non-Western cultures. Inaddition to learning a lifelong skill, ceramic courses help improveobservation skills, self-discipline, organization, ability to evaluateone's own performance, problem-solving abilities and ability tocomplete long-term projects.
