This introductory course is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of air- and liquid-cooled engine technology. Students will explore the basic function, operation, and maintenance of small engines used in lawn care and irrigation equipment. Emphasis is placed on developing introductory skills in inspecting, servicing, and performing limited repairs on cooling systems, air cleaners, fuel systems, lubrication systems, and starter/ignition systems. Instruction also includes training in shop and equipment safety, tool identification, and the development of academic, leadership, and career-readiness skills related to the small engine industry.
