This course is part of Washington Network for Innovative Careers (WANIC), a seven-district partnership whose primary mission is to provide quality, diverse, and cost-effective career and technical education for all students through interdistrict cooperation. WANIC courses are challenging, relevant, specialized programs that meet for 3 periods per day all year. Learn more about all the opportunities available through WANIC at their website. Learn the skills necessary to pursue a career in the fire service and to be an integral part of a community emergency response team. Taught by fire-fighting professionals, students experience firefighter training, fire prevention, inspection and investigation, alarm systems, dispatching, CERT, and emergency medical services. Students drill at Eastside fire stations in full bunker gear to further practice all this profession has to offer. Students read college level textbooks and practice technical writing skills.
