This course is designed for students interested in improving their personal level of fitness through walking. Students will learn how walking can improve cardio-respiratory fitness, prevent disease, and reduce stress. They will also learn about the relationship between daily sleep and nutritional habits, exercise and physical and emotional performance. Students will assess their current fitness levels, create a plan for increasing their fitness, participate in goal setting and reassess fitness levels several times throughout the course. Flexibility and muscular fitness components such as yoga or Pilates may be included.

Prerequisites: Foundations of Fitness and Sport

Grades: 10th Grade, 11th Grade, 12th Grade
