Students learn techniques of fine art printmaking, which may include relief printing, screen printing, monotype, stencils, collagraph, and collage. This course covers aspects of printmaking such as tools, inks, paper, plate preparation, registration, printing processes and qualities of prints such as overlays, transparency, offset, and multiple images. Students gain the skills and confidence to produce multiple images by hand printing and on a press while exploring personal visual expression. Other topics may include editions, suites, and designation systems. Class sessions consist of independent and collaborative printing, lecture, demonstrations, discussion, and critique
