Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School – Instrumental Music: Beginning Piano

Students in this one-year course explore the fundamentals of playing the piano in a supportive and interactive environment. Through a combination of hands-on instruction and practical application, they develop a solid foundation in playing the piano while fostering a lifelong appreciation for music. Students learn theory basics, technique, basic chords, rhythm and timing, reading notation, and performance skills. By the end of the course, students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to play a wide range of songs on the piano as well as a solid foundation for further musical exploration and development. Performances may be required.
